Homemade Beef Stew Recipe
This is a quick and easy homemade beef stew recipe from our family's kitchen that is really great on a cold winter day.
There are plenty of cold winters in Colorado and we had a variety of ways to enjoy beef stew. Here is one of our favorites that is really good with crackers or whatever you choose for bread.
Ingredients: 2 pounds lean sirloin tip 1 T. olive oil 1/4 c. flour 1 t. salt 1 1/2 c. beef broth 1 t. Worcestershire sauce 1 clove garlic or chopped onion 1 bay leaf 1 t. paprika 4 sliced carrots 3 diced potatoes 1 stalk celery, diced
Instructions: Trim all excess fat from beef and cut into cubes. Heat olive oil in a large soup pot over medium-high heat until hot. Add beef and quickly brown on all sides. Add remaining ingredients except flour, salt and pepper to taste and reduce heat to simmer. Simmer approximately 1 hour or until beef is cooked and vegetables are tender. Combine 1 cup stew broth with flour in a small bowl. Mix with fork or whisk and add to stew. Continue heating another 10-15 minutes or until thickened.
* If you want to use a crock pot for this beef stew recipe, cover and cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours or on High for 4 to 6 hours.
