German Chocolate Cake
German's is actually the name of a Sweet Chocolate Bar made by Baker's Brand chocolate. The first German Chocolate Cake recipe appeared in a Dallas Texas newspaper in 1957 that a homemaker sent in.
A spokesperson for Kraft foods said that the German's Chocolate Bar was developed in 1852 by an Englishman by the name of Sam German. The sales of these bars became so numerous that pictures of the cake were sent to newspapers around the country.
So your family and mine had their various versions of this delectible delight. Here is one from our family recipes. You may also like to use this recipe with our Cream Cheese Brownies.
