Grandma's Perfect Pie Crust
You thought you couldn't make a perfect pie crust? Now you can see how easy it is. With my Grandma's perfect pie crust recipe, the ingredients are simple and most folks have these items in their pantry.
However, its not just something you mix in a bowl and your done. As you can see from the note below, there is a technique to making a perfect pie crust, and it does take some practice.
You can have a light, buttery, flaky pie crust to use with your favorite pecan, apple, pumpkin, sweet potato, or even coconut cream pie. Whatever your favorite is, take your time and you will have good success!
Important Note on making Perfect Pie Crust: Place pastry on lightly floured board (use as little flour on board as possible-(this is where pie-makers have trouble and what makes “boards” of otherwise delicious pastry), and knead 20 strokes. Now proceed with your pie in usual manner.
Ingredients: 3 cups flour 1 cup shortening 1 t. salt 1 large egg ½ c. cold water 1 t. vinegar
Instructions: Sift salt with flour and cut in shortening. Beat egg, adding water and vinegar. Add liquid to Flour mixture. Mix until blended.
Grandma’s Second Pie Crust2 cups flour ½ t. baking soda 2/3 cup yellow Crisco 1 t. salt
Mix: ½ c. water 1 tablespoon vinegar
Cut Crisco into flour, baking powder, and salt. Add water/vinegar mix. Work in. Let stand 10 min. Roll.
